The light of my life
Today has been 23 months and 5 days since I last held Audrey in my arms. I have a lot of great memories of holding Audrey. I also have a lot of memories of Audrey in the bathroom. I have been checking off the summer "honey-do" list for Amanda, so today, I took a look at the jetted tub in our bathroom. I had to take off the panel to access the pump and the filter for the tub to clean it. When I took off the panel, I remembered that I had to reinforce the panel to the wall underneath the tub.
I remembered that there were extra anchors, 4 screws, double sided tape, and some putty to make sure that the panel stayed on. It wasn't because it was lopsided or there was texture on the drywall that the panel connected to. It was because Audrey used her whole force to pry open that panel anytime she was on the potty. Sometimes it was her motivation to pull off the panel. So, I attached it as hard as I could. I think it was about two years ago roughly. I remember doing it in front of Audrey to show her it was impenetrable. And finally in the summer of 2023, it was. I had won. But a week ago, Mandy asked me to look and see if I could fix the jets. So I took out the phillips head driver and took off the panel, I had to also pry the tape and putty that held it in place. And what did I see inside the enclosure, but a light bulb. It took me a second, but I remembered that I was changing the lightbulbs and reattaching the panel with Audrey. Audrey must have stuck the old lightbulb that I had taken out of the vanity. and stuck it in the space underneath the tub. Even two years later, Audrey's light shines on. She was always messing with me while I was doing projects with her. Especially in the bathroom because the bathroom was such a place of joy for her, where she would bathe with her sister, make funny sounds while going potty, and just really show her glowing personality.
So what did I do with the glowing lightbulb. I put it back to light up my day the next day I have to fix the tub.
I checked my phone and saw that there are 66 pictures of Audrey in the bathroom on the phone. Nearly all are with her sister, and she is mostly smiling (or seizing).
Hannah and her sister always had so much fun in the bath. They seemed to make a splash and light each other up where ever they bathed.
Her love shines on!
